Confessions of a Teacher Part 2

It would appear that I failed to stick to my commitment as outlined in my last post. Y'all, this year is completely wearing me out. I have never been more tired and stressed out. Around Thanksgiving, I gained another student, making that 22 precious 5-6 year-olds. I love them so dearly, but any teacher will tell you that it can be incredibly difficult. It's been a process, as I have never had more than 20 before, but I think I'm managing as well as anyone can be expected to. On a lighter note, two days before winter break, I walked into my room to find this!!

This year is my third year to be in my classroom. Up until 2 weeks ago, my projector wasn't mounted. Let me tell you, it was a giant pain to not have it mounted. I resorted to having a shelf smack dab in the middle of my room to accommodate not having to roll my projector around on a cart. It was the best early Christmas present I could have asked for! My kids have loved being able to spread out more on my rug, and it's better for those who can't sit still for any amount of time to be able to lay down to listen to a story or watch a video. It has opened up so many other opportunities for a flexible classroom of so many kindergartners.

Anyways, winter break has been a blissful week and a half full of rest, rest, and more rest. Oh yeah, and working my second job (which I enjoy!). I've been trying to catch up on getting everything perfect in my new apartment, while also trying to spruce up some of my TpT products. It's been some time since I changed some things up, and my 5 senses pack. It was one of the first products I created, so it seemed like the best place to start. Recently, I've been trying to stray away from Scrappin Doodles clipart. I used to love them, but they don't seem to be as wonderful as clipart art from other sellers, such as Melonheadz Illustrating, Educlips, Teaching in the Tongass, and Krista Wallden at Creative Clips. Their work brings new life to any outdated products. I wanted to show you a side-by-side view of the transformation of my product. Some things stayed similar, but every page was changed in some way, either through fonts or clipart. Old is on the left or top, new is on the right or bottom. Click on any picture to check out the pack in my TpT store.

It's so refreshing to spruce something up to reflect the changes in your style and skills. I'm hoping to continue sprucing up many of my other very first products that I put in my store when I opened it last year. I hope you all have a wonderful new year full of new adventures. Best of luck to all of your TpT stores this year!

Confessions of a Teacher

I'm not going to lie, this school year has been crazier than I ever imagined it would. I came into this year more motivated, excited, and inspired to begin this year than I've ever been. But something about this year has been different. I'm scrambling to get things done, staying at school later than I should, and being neglectful of my classroom organization, both for my students and myself. I also haven't kept up with my TpT store or my blog, for which I am truly sorry to those of you who follow me. Something is off, and I can't figure out what it is.

Today, I am starting new. I am saying that from this day forward I won't let the little things get my down. I won't push things to the wayside and pretend they aren't there until I'm ready to deal with them. I am ready to begin a new chapter with a new me.

Stay tuned for updates on how the new me is going to work on getting my classroom back together and motivate myself to do more and be more than I ever thought I could.

TpT Seller Challenge Week 4: Follow Frenzy

It's finally time to wrap up the TpT seller challenge. I can't even begin to explain how thankful I am to have participated. I've had the opportunity to connect with so many teachers around the country, and I've learned so much along the way. So many teachers have inspired me to step it up and really hit the ground running with my TpT store.

When I first started my TpT store, I didn't really have too many expectations. I thought it would be a fun way to earn some extra money by creating products that I had already planned to use in my classroom. In the beginning (only about 10 months ago), I didn't have an Instagram account just for my class/store, I didn't follow any blogs or have a class/store blog, and I didn't bother to connect with other teachers in the TpT community. In the last 4 weeks with the challenge, I have really stepped up with each of those and have enjoyed every part of it. I keep asking myself, "Why in the world didn't I do any of these things before?!" Teachers thrive from having community with others, sharing ideas, and inspiring and motivating others.

This week's challenge is to share people who you connected with and/or blogs that have motivated and inspired you. I'll be honest. For the most part, I like to keep to myself when it comes to socializing online. I prefer to read what others have written and commented rather than doing it myself. With this challenge I have done more writing and commenting on others blog and Instagram posts than I thought I would. There have been way too many people that have motivated and inspired me that I couldn't possibly fit them all on the challenge template, so I thought I would just highlight several teacher bloggers that I have closely been following over the last 4 weeks.

First of all, the ladies that created this challenge have been so fantastic. I hope I can one day meet them all because they have been so inspirational with what they have done through TpT as well as in their classrooms. I have taken something away from each of them from reading their blog posts each week. If you haven't already, check out the ladies at Teach Create Motivate, Peppy Zesty Teacherista, Third in Hollywood, and Sparkling in Second.

There are also several teachers that I found through the TpT Seller Challenge hashtag on Instagram. They are #TeacherMom and Chevron and Centers. I've enjoyed following their blogs and will continue to do so even though the challenge is over.

I have so much more motivation from participating in the TpT Seller Challenge than I ever thought possible. I look forward to continuing to connect with other teachers and to get excited about the new school year that is just around the corner. I've secretly been planning and buying things pretty much since the first day of summer, but I'm even more excited now. I can't wait to start chapter 3 in my teaching career!!

TpT Seller Challenge Week 3: Make Your Masterpiece

I can't believe we're already in week 3 of the challenge! It's gone by so fast. I was a little overzealous at the beginning and had big plans to whip out a lot of products over the last couple of weeks. Yeah, that hasn't happened! I have been working on a couple of things, including this week's challenge. I've been wanting to make a shape packet for quite some time now. I was really hoping to pack more activities into it, but I have 5 resources in the pack that I absolutely love. It includes the following:

Shape Posters

Shape Memory Cards

20 Task Cards

I Have...Who Has...

Shape Bingo for 2D&3D and 2D

If you are interested in the product, click here! I can't wait to see what week 4 has in store for me tomorrow!!

SEVEN Days of Savings!!

I can't believe it's already the beginning of the fourth week of summer for me. Time flies by way too fast! Thankfully, I've been writing great ideas down and have already been shopping for a lot of fabulous things for my class next year. I'm pretty sure nearly every teacher does that the second they go on summer break. We just can't help it. We love what we do. and we get excited about all the wonderful things that will take place in the future.

That being said, I have decided to have a week's worth of deals in my TpT store. I will have 6 heavily wish listed items on sale for 50% off from Sunday-Friday, and to celebrate Independence Day my entire store will be 20% off on Saturday only.
